Did you know that there are more cows in Britain than there are people in Birmingham, Liverpool and Manchester put together?
Is it true that some cows never go outside?
For the great majority of British dairy farmers, cows graze outdoors during the summer and stay under cover during the winter. Some dairy cows stay indoors throughout the year.
Whatever system of housing is used, compliance with the Assured Dairy Farms (ADF) assurance scheme requires all dairy farmers to ensure that their buildings and management systems enable their cows to enjoy the Farm Animal Welfare Council's 'Five Freedoms' that define good welfare.

Caring for cows
Keeping cows healthy and happy are the top priorities for every
dairy farmer, and farmers take great pride in caring for their
