Hedgerows, an important and distinctive component of the British landscape and biodiversity, owe their existence to the need to divide grassland into conveniently-sized grazing pastures for dairy cattle.

 

Hedgerows provide excellent natural weather and wind barriers and an ideal habitat for many of our farmland birds and wildlife species.
