Milk Tank
A typical milk tank can hold up to 10,000 litres of milk (enough for more than 35,000 bowls of cereal!) and keeps the temperature at 4°C to keep it really fresh. We all rely on fridges and freezers to keep our food and drink fresh, and this storage process is just as vital for dairy farmers too.
The milk tank is usually made from stainless steel and is cleaned by the farmer after each collection. This usually happens daily, as the milk delivery driver checks the temperature of the milk before transferring it to the lorry. The driver also collects samples to test the quality of the milk before taking it away – almost like wine tasters of the dairy world!
